Keeping Kids Safe: Understanding Youth Violence & Bear Spray Risks

Parents and caregivers across Hamilton are being invited to take part in an important community conversation focused on youth safety.
Hamilton Police are hosting a series of information sessions designed to help families better understand current youth violence trends, the growing misuse of bear spray, and how to support young people in navigating conflict safely.
These sessions are practical, informative, and focused on prevention. Attendees will learn:
What’s driving youth violence locally
The risks and legal consequences of bear spray misuse
Warning signs to watch for
How to talk to your child about conflict and safety
Strategies to help prevent escalation
Where to find local supports and resources
This is a valuable opportunity for parents and caregivers of children and youth of all ages to gain tools, ask questions, and connect with community supports.
