Important Update on the Glanbrook Sewer Upgrade Project
Dear Ward 11 Residents,
I know this major infrastructure project along Golf Club Road and Dickenson Road has been incredibly disruptive for many of you—longer road closures, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and detours that affect your daily routines. You’ve been patient and understanding, and I want you to know I hear your frustrations loud and clear. My office continues to push the project team for better communication and faster progress wherever possible.
Below is the latest official update we’ve received from the contractor as of mid-December 2025. I’ve included the current status and the most recent estimated timelines. Please keep in mind that these are projected dates and, as we’ve seen with large projects, schedules can shift due to weather, soil conditions, or other unforeseen challenges. I’ll keep sharing updates as soon as new information becomes available.
Tunneling and Shaft Progress
Drive 1 (from Highway 56/Golf Club Road to east of Fletcher Road) Tunneling is complete (1,495 metres mined), and concrete pipe installation is underway (65 of 221 pipes installed so far).
Drive 2 (east of Fletcher Road to Trinity Church Road) Approximately 1,165 metres of the 1,779 metres have been mined. Pipe installation is currently anticipated to begin around spring 2026.
Drive 3 (Trinity Church Road to Dickenson Road) Tunneling continues (started July 2025) with about 104 metres of the 367 metres completed.
Road Closure Updates
Golf Club Road – Full closures remain in place at:
Shaft 2 (east of Fletcher Road) – currently expected to reopen around fall 2026
Shaft 3 (at Trinity Church Road) – currently expected to reopen around fall 2026
Dickenson Road – Full closures remain in place at:
Shaft 4 (at Trinity Church Road) – currently expected to reopen around spring/summer 2027
Shaft 5 (east of Nebo Road) – currently expected to reopen around spring/summer 2027
Dickenson Road – Other Work Sites
MH22A (west side of Miles Road intersection): Work is scheduled to finish by December 19, 2025. Once complete, the drill rig will move slightly west to MH21 for approximately one month of additional drilling. After that, the rig is expected to be removed from the site.
MH14 (between Upper James and Miles Road): Partial lane closure (one lane open) began November 24 and is expected to last about one month.
I know these timelines feel long, and the inconvenience is real—especially for those of you living closest to the work zones or relying on these roads daily. This project is essential for upgrading our sewer capacity and protecting our local environment long-term, but that doesn’t make the day-to-day disruption any easier.
If you have specific concerns—noise, dust, access issues, or anything else—please reach out to my office directly. We’re here to listen and advocate on your behalf with the project team.
Thank you again for your patience. I’ll post the next update as soon as we receive new information.
Take care,
Councillor Mark Tadeson
