Ward 11 policing update: ACTION team and August 2026 report
Hamilton Police has launched a dedicated ACTION team in Division 30, which serves Ward 11 alongside other wards. The team began with four officers, with expansion to eight planned by January 2027.
I have been advocating for more proactive neighbourhood policing in Ward 11 and working with Hamilton Police toward that goal. I’m very pleased to see the ACTION team now serving our communities as part of Division 30.
ACTION stands for Addressing Crime Trends In Our Neighbourhoods. The officers focus on recurring neighbourhood concerns through prevention, intervention, enforcement and community engagement. These resources serve the division and are not assigned exclusively to Ward 11.
August 2026: Ward 11 figures
Hamilton Police’s August report records 200 citizen-generated calls for service, 28 collisions, 28 property crimes and 15 violent crimes in Ward 11. Two of the collisions involved injury; this is a count of collisions, not people injured.
The leading reported event types were suspicious activity, motor vehicle collision calls and domestic-related calls. For context, the report’s five-year monthly averages are 178.2 calls for service, 31.6 collisions, 34.4 property crimes and 10.7 violent crimes.
Police statistics fluctuate throughout the year, including seasonally. A single month does not establish a longer-term trend. These preliminary figures may change, and the August reporting period predates the September ACTION launch.
