From Glanbrook to Mount Hope, Ward 11 is ready for a summer to remember. Whether you’re raising little ones, staying active with friends, or enjoying the outdoors solo, Hamilton’s free and affordable outdoor programs offer something for everyone—and many are right here in our own neighbourhood.

🌿 Enjoy Binbrook Conservation Area Right in Ward 11!

Located at 5050 Harrison Road, the Binbrook Conservation Area offers a spectacular lake getaway just minutes from home. With a sandy beach, children’s splash pad, picnic zones, accessible walking trails, observation platforms, and even an inflatable FunSplash Sports Park, there’s something for everyone—even zip‑lining and wakeboarding on-site for the adventurous folks 🎒  . Bring or rent a canoe, paddleboat, or kayak to explore scenic Lake Niapenco—the Niagara Peninsula watershed’s largest inland lake—and enjoy fishing from the accessible pier  . Open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., it’s a perfect, affordable escape for families and outdoor lovers in Ward 11.

🏊 Cool Down at a Pool or Splash Pad

Outdoor pools open city-wide on June 27, with daily drop-in swims through September 1 (weather permitting). While Ward 11 doesn’t have an outdoor pool, Rosedale, Inch Park, and Coronation pools are all a short drive away and open to everyone. For the little ones, Mount Hope Park has a fun spray pad to enjoy!

You can also beat the heat at other nearby spray pads, which are free and open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visit hamilton.ca/spraypads to find the one closest to you.

🎉 Supie Returns to Ward 11 Parks

I’m especially glad to share that Glanbrook Hills Park and Southampton Estates Park will once again host the Supie program—free, drop-in games and activities led by trained staff. Supie runs Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., June 30 through August 22.

There will also be pop-up Supie sessions at additional nearby parks—great if you’re exploring outside your immediate neighbourhood. This is a wonderful way for kids to make friends, stay active, and have some good old-fashioned summer fun.

🏌️‍♂️ Fitness, Golf & Pickleball

  • Fitness at the Park: From June 30 to August 22, join free outdoor fitness classes—open to all ages and ability levels. Check the schedule at hamilton.ca/fitnessatthepark.

  • Pickleball: Courts at Confederation Beach Park are open daily and can be reserved up to 48 hours in advance at hamilton.ca/pickleball.

  • Golf: Tee off at Chedoke or King’s Forest—both are accepting public bookings and tournament entries this summer. hamilton.ca/golf

Summer in Ward 11 is about community, connection, and making memories close to home. Whether you’re chasing the kids through the spray pad, joining a park fitness class, or catching up with neighbours at Supie, I hope you’ll take full advantage of everything our city has to offer this season.

Let’s make it a summer to remember!
