We want to provide a heads-up on some upcoming work that that you may notice, particularly regarding truck traffic, dust, or mud tracking in Binbrook and parts of Ward 9.

As part of a subdivision development in Binbrook, topsoil and fill are currently being moved from Palmal’s site at 3479 Binbrook Road to Chippewa Road East, which holds a valid Site Alteration (SA) Permit. Following this phase, additional fill will be moved to support The Crossings development in Ward 9, which has a current need for clean fill material.

These movements may result in a noticeable increase in truck activity through our area during this period.

What You Need to Know

  • Approved Routes: All trucks involved in the fill movement are required to use the City of Hamilton’s designated Truck Route Network. You can view the map here: Truck Route Network | City of Hamilton

  • Temporary Route Deviations: While trucks must stay on approved routes, the City does allow them to temporarily leave the truck route to reach a destination using the most direct path from the truck route. This is standard practice for deliveries and construction logistics.

My office has spoken with police to determine the appropriate routing for these trucks, which is believed to be as follows to the location on Rymal (we will update this post if we hear otherwise):

  • Complaints or Concerns: If you notice any issues such as speeding, aggressive driving, trucks off-route or unsafe routes, please report them directly to Hamilton Police Services through the following options:

UPDATE: Police have informed us that they have reached out to the developer and the company in charge of the dirt removal at the Binbrook Meadows site and provided educational messaging. This is an ongoing special attention for our local police managers.

I believe they will be hauling dirt for another 4 weeks.  Officers will be in the area to enforce the truck routes when able.

The City is monitoring this work, and both the developer and city staff are expected to follow best practices to minimize neighbourhood impact, including reducing dust, noise, and mud tracking. However, as with any active construction or fill movement, some dust, noise, and mud tracking may occur. Your patience and vigilance are appreciated. Teams are required to clean up after themselves.

Councillor Tadeson remains in close contact with City staff and will continue to advocate for respectful development practices that consider both the needs of growing communities and the well-being of long-standing neighbourhoods.

If you have any additional concerns, don’t hesitate to contact the Ward 11 office at 905-546-2110 or ward11@hamilton.ca
