The Winona Peach Festival is fast approaching and I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at my booth on Sat Aug 25th in the Commercial Section of the Festival. There will be plenty of information on hand about city services available to you. Also, I’ll have maps showing some of the areas of growth and some details on the new Commercial Development “Walmart” coming to Fifty Rd & the QEW. The Recreation Survey will be on hand for you to complete and a list of many new programs that are available to come to Winona if the Community is interested. The Winona Peach Festival starts Friday Aug 24 evening and runs through until Sunday Aug 26. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for good weather and lots of fun.
The Erland Lee Museum “Home” Women’s Institute will be using my booth on Friday and Sunday of the Peach Festival as I’m only using it on the Saturday of the event. Please remember to drop by and support the “Lee”.
To date I have just over 500 completed recreation surveys from the Winona Community. Students have been going door to door to the surveying and it’s great to see such an amazing response from the Community. There is only one survey per household and if you have been missed or you haven’t seen a surveyor yet, please call into my office and take the survey over the phone, it’s quick and easy. Unfortunately, resources won’t permit me to get to every single home in Winona, but we’re scheduled to visit a majority of them before the summer is over.
Penady, the developer for the Winona “Walmart” Commercial Development will be hosting an Open House sometime in September, 2012. The date hasn’t been confirmed, but I’ll have more details at my Booth at the Peach Festival, Sat Aug 25th. Please watch the Stoney Creek News as well for further details.
The Winona Splash Pad has been hugely popular this summer and I’ve received a lot of positive comments that it’s just great and kids and parents are really happy it has finally arrived. Please note that the Splash Pad will be shut down during the Peach Festival for safety reasons.
The Developer for the Development known as “Foothills of Winona” which is on the north side of Barton Street and west of Fifty Road chose to take that application to the OMB (Ontario Municipal Board), this takes the decision away from the City. If you would like to know how to participate in those proceedings, please let me know.
If you or your not-for-profit group is having any special events or programs that you would like put on our Ward 11 Community Web Page Calendar, just let me know. There is no cost involved and it helps the community be aware of what is happening.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at 905-546-4513 or email Brenda.Johnson@hamilton.ca
