Apply by April 17

The Rain Ready Hamilton program is now accepting applications for 2026, and Ward 11 residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their properties, reduce flood risks, and enhance local green spaces. The application period opened this week and remains open until April 17.

The program is delivered by Green Venture in partnership with the City of Hamilton, and last year alone, Hamilton residents completed 73 projects that will collectively manage nearly 1 million litres of stormwater every year—helping reduce local flooding, protect water quality, and ease pressure on City infrastructure.

As Ward 11 continues to grow, programs like Rain Ready Hamilton help homeowners build resilience on their properties while adding beauty and ecological value.

What Is Rain Ready Hamilton?

Rain Ready Hamilton is a rebate program that helps residents install low‑impact development (LID) features on their properties to manage rainwater where it falls. These features protect homes from flooding, reduce pollutants entering streams and Hamilton Harbour, and create healthier, greener spaces across the city.

2026 funding is available in two tiers:

Tier 1 – Up to $1,500

Ideal for smaller or moderate‑sized projects:

  • Rain gardens

  • Rainwater harvesting systems (barrels, cisterns)

  • Bioswales and dry swales

  • Soakaway pits & infiltration trenches

  • Enhanced grass swales

  • Perforated pipe systems

    (Minimum project size: 1 m x 3 m)

Tier 2 – Up to $5,000

Ideal for larger or multi‑feature upgrades:

  • Permeable driveways, walkways, or patios

  • Green roofs

  • Downspout realignment (with another LID feature)

  • Comprehensive LID redesigns including multiple elements
