HAMILTON, ON – October 6, 2015 – The City of Hamilton’s Public Health Services is offering residents an opportunity to consult with staff about any health related questions they may have linked to the recent PCB announcement.
“Although the risk of exposure to anyone in the public is extremely low, the recent notice of order from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has sparked renewed interest in this environmental contaminant,” says Rob Hall, Director of Health Protection with Hamilton Public Health Services. “We have public health staff available to consult by phone for residents to call with their questions.”

Polychlorinated Biphenyls known as PCBs are chemicals that last a long time in the environment. Everyone is exposed to very small amounts of PCBs through food, and to a lesser extent, through air, soil and water. These low levels are unlikely to cause adverse health effects.
