August 18, 2016 – Due to the consistent and recent rainfall that the city has experienced and the forecasted weather pattern for cooler temperatures and intermittent rainfall for the Hamilton area, the Hamilton Fire Department has lifted the ban on open air burning issued on July 21, 2016 as of noon today.
We would like to thank the citizens of Hamilton for their co-operation during the burn ban.
All property owners who hold a valid Open Air Burn Permit may resume open air burning and are reminded that the burning must be conducted in accordance the guidelines provided with the permit.
Burn Permits can only be issued for properties that are located within the rural areas of the City, as designated under the Official Plan for the City of Hamilton. No open air burning is permitted in urban-designated areas.
Burn permits may be obtained at all Municipal Service Centers or any of Hamilton Fire Department’s Fire Prevention offices.
