Mount Hope’s Doctor uses City Grant Program

Doctor’s Office Receives Mount Hope’s First Grant Through

City of Hamilton Financial Incentive Program

Hamilton, ON – July 22, 2014 – Today, the City of Hamilton announced that a doctor’s office was Mount Hope’s first grant recipient through the Commercial Façade Property Improvement Grant Program. The business, located at 3055 Homestead Drive in Mount Hope, will receive over $8,500 towards the cost of improving its exterior with updated signage.

Hamilton City Council approved the Mount Hope-Airport Gateway as a ‘project area’ for community improvement initiatives in 2013. The area possessed several of the characteristics that warranted this designation, including building stock or property in need of rehabilitation and deteriorated or insufficient physical infrastructure.

“Through this grant – which I hope is the first of many to come in Mount Hope – the appearance of this commercial property and the economic vitality of the area will be enhanced,” said Brenda Johnson, City of Hamilton ward 11 councillor. “I encourage all businesses within the Mount Hope Community Improvement Project Area to take advantage of these incentives and to maximize their investments.”

“As a proud Mount Hope business owner, I’m thrilled that the City of Hamilton accepted my grant application and that this project will help contribute to Mount Hope’s revitalization,” said business owner Dr. Eleonora Lalli.

The Commercial Façade Property Improvement Grant Program – one of many administered through the City’s Planning and Economic Development Department – supports business owners to improve upon the physical appearance of their properties, achieve quality façade improvements and encourage investment in the areas in which the program is offered. The improvements serve as a catalyst to enhance some of the City’s historic main streets and commercial districts. Maximum grant amount is paid on a matching basis (50%-50%) to a maximum of $10,000 per property for eligible work under the Program.
