The City of Hamilton is celebrating its 18th annual Bike Month this June with a month-long lineup of cycling events, guided rides, repair popups, school activities, and community programming across the city.

Bike Month gives Hamiltonians a chance to connect with the local cycling community, try something new, and learn more about getting around by bike. This year’s programming highlights equity and inclusivity, with opportunities for residents of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to take part.

The celebration began with Bike Day at City Hall on Wednesday, May 27, and continues throughout June with events designed to make cycling welcoming, practical, and fun.

Upcoming events include Bike to Forge on Sunday, May 31, where residents can ride to the Forge FC soccer game with guided rides, free bike valet, discounted tickets, and family activities.

From June 1 to 5, schools across Hamilton are encouraged to participate in Bike to School Week by hosting wheel-friendly activities and promoting safe routes to school.

Residents can also attend a free bike tune-up event at Valley Park Library on Tuesday, June 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Minor adjustments such as brake and gear checks, tire filling, and bolt tightening will be available on a first come, first served basis.

On Sunday, June 7, Open Streets Hamilton will transform King Street East from John Street to Gage Avenue into a car-free space for walking, biking, rolling, and community fun. Bike for Mike also takes place on June 7, offering ride routes from 5 kilometres to 75 kilometres, starting and ending at Collective Arts Brewing.

Bike Month supports safer streets, active transportation, and a healthier, greener Hamilton.

Residents can register for Bike Month events and explore the full calendar at hamilton.ca/bikemonth.
