Dedicated ACTION Police Team Coming to Division 30
Hamilton Police Service has announced the launch of dedicated ACTION teams in Divisions 20 and 30, providing additional proactive, neighbourhood-focused police resources to the communities they serve.
I have been advocating for an increased and more visible police presence in Ward 11 for several years and have continued to raise local public safety concerns with Hamilton Police Service. I welcome the addition of these dedicated resources in Division 30.
ACTION – Addressing Crime Trends In Our Neighbourhoods – provides divisions with dedicated officers to respond to emerging and persistent crime and public safety concerns.
Division 30 will initially deploy four dedicated ACTION officers, with the team increasing to eight full-time officers by January 2027. The additional staffing was approved through the 2026 police budget.
ACTION officers will focus on crime trends, chronic offenders and recurring neighbourhood concerns while building relationships with residents, businesses and community partners. Officers will be highly visible, working in uniform and marked police vehicles and, where appropriate, patrolling on foot and bicycle.
The teams will primarily operate during the day and evening. Each team will report to its divisional Crime Manager, allowing officers to be deployed based on local crime trends, intelligence and concerns raised by the community.
I will continue working with Hamilton Police Service and bringing forward the public safety concerns I hear from Ward 11 residents and businesses.
