March 1st, I will be hosting and Open House followed by a 2012 Budget Presentation at the Glanbrook Municipal Office, 4280 Binbrook Road (next to the Arena). The open house will be from 4:30pm to 6:30pm and then starting at 6:30, Rob Rossini, GM of Finance for the City of Hamilton, will give an overview of this years proposed budget. There will also be plenty of opportunity to express your concerns and ask your questions. I look forward to meeting and talking with residents during the open house portion and the budget presentation will give details that directly affect the Glanbrook/Ward 11 Community. If you are unable to attend this day, there is a similar one on Feb 28th, same time at the Stoney Creek Municipal Office, 777 Hwy #8 at the corner of Jones Rd.
Binbrook Road, from Hwy #56 through to just west of the Water Tower will be urbanized this year. That will include the installation of sewers, extension of water, sidewalks on both sides of the street, elimination of the ditches and curbs installed. This work is scheduled to start this spring.
Fletcher Road Traffic will see a detour starting Monday, Feb 27th, 2012. Sewers are being installed on Fletcher Rd from Pinehill to Rymal Road and that section of Fletcher Rd needs to be closed. Fletcher Road will be closed to local traffic only from Golf Club to Rymal Rd and the detour route for this closure is to use Golf Club and Trinity Church Rd to go around the project. However, for local traffic you will still be able to access Summit Park Development coming from Golf Club via Pinehill or from Rymal via Dakota. The project is expected to be completed by May 20th, 2012.
Woodburn Hall on Golf Club Road, just west of Woodburn Rd will be getting some upgrades. I have met with facility staff and they have already done some grading work in the parking lot with more to come this spring. Also, within they next few weeks staff will have a number a facelift repairs done such as; wood floor repairs, drywall repairs, plaster repairs, foyer (landing) needs to be re-tiled, some painting, clean the eaves and repoint small sections of brick. I am a firm believer that we need to maintain our facilities and not let them get so far behind in repairs. I’ve started with Woodburn Hall and I’m also in discussions with staff about Mount Hope Community Hall and the outdoor pavilion, as well as upgrades to the lower level of Binbrook Memorial Hall. We have great facilities and it would be nice to enhance the community use with programs and other uses that the community would like to see in these facilities.
