As the snow season is fast approaching, please remember to enjoy and most importantly be safe. A quick reminder for those homeowners who have sidewalks in front of their property, they must be cleared within 24 hours of a snow fall. Also, if you can try and park your vehicle in your driveway after a snow fall, it makes it much easier for the snow plow to clear your street. This Holiday Season, try and remember to drop off non-perishable food items at your local food bank. The Food Bank in the Winona area is at St. John”s Anglican Church, Hwy #8 and Winona Road and their phone number is 905-643.2180. The Food Bank for the Glanbrook area is at Christ Woodburn Church, Woodburn Road and their phone number is 905-692-3781. Before dropping off food items, I would give them a call first to make sure the doors are open. Also, I understand that if you drop off items for the food bank to “Winona Gardens” at Hwy #8 and Fifty Rd, before Dec 19th, a local Realtor will match every item donated so that the items for the food bank are doubled. City Hall and the Municipal Service Centres will be closed from Christmas through to New Years and will re-open again on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012. Other City building such as Arenas, Rec Centres and Libraries will be open, but you might check their hours of operations first as they make be reduced at times. Just a reminder that if you are planning a community event within ward 11, the Community Web calendar on my web page is an excellent way to get the word out to residents of Ward 11. All we ask is that it be a not-for-profit event. Just drop us a line with the details and make sure that it is included on the web page. This Community Web calendar is proving to be a very popular site for local residents, so why not take advantage of it. The web address is www.brendajohnson.ca. As 2011 draws to a close, I would like to say that it has been my pleasure to represent the residents of Ward 11 on City Council. I have met with many residents and community groups personally and I look forward to continued meetings in 2012. Ward 11 is a large and fast growing ward and I believe that in working with the Community, we can all be better informed and I can do my job much better when I am aware of the concerns and thoughts of the residents I represent. Please remember you can contact me at any time at 905-546-4513 or email Brenda.Johnson@hamilton.ca As your Councillor I wish you all this best this Holiday Season and may you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
