The City of Hamilton By-law requires property owners to clear the sidewalks that front their property withing 24 hours of the end of a snow fall. Also, if you have a fire hydrant, you are asked to clear around it so that Emergency Response Staff can clearly locate and access the hydrant should it be needed.
Snow Plows are doing their best to clear our roads, but it would be extremely helpful if car owners could try and keep the streets free of parked cars so that the plows can do a good job clearing your street.
Please keep an eye out for your neighbours, especially the elderly and offer some assistance when possible. Heavy snow can be a real hardship for many, working together we can get the job done.
