The former Winona Public School on Winona Road has finally been declared surplus by the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board. The School Board has been advised by the City of Hamilton of its intend to purchase the school and property. I’m now working with staff on a report that will go to Council for approval.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, the intent is to use this former school site as a satellite recreation centre for the Winona Community. I’ve been working closely with a number of organizations such as the YWCA so that additional programming and services can be offered at this location.
