Dear Ward 11 Homeowners,
I wanted to reach out with a friendly reminder about the upcoming Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) declaration deadline on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
This annual declaration is required for all residential property owners in our ward, regardless of your property's status - whether you live in it, rent it out, or it's currently vacant.
Our records show that over 1,400 Ward 11 properties (14%) still need to be declared.
Completing this simple process helps you avoid having your property automatically classified as vacant, which would result in a 1% tax (about $3,810 for an average Ward 11 home valued at $381,000).
Making your declaration is easy:
You'll need your roll number and access code (found on your tax bill or VUT notice)
Choose the method most convenient for you: online, phone, email, mail, or in person
Full details are available at hamilton.ca/VacantUnitTax
If you need any assistance (don't have roll number or access number, etc.), resources are available:
Phone: 905-546-2573
Email: vacantunittax@hamilton.ca
Thank you for taking a moment to complete your declaration.
If you have any questions or concerns about this or any other Ward 11 matters, please don't hesitate to reach out to my office.
Councillor Mark Tadeson
