Mark Tadeson Working with Police and City Staff to Improve Road Safety in Ward 11

Road safety continues to be a major priority for Ward 11 as our community grows. With more residents, more traffic, and changing travel patterns across Glanbrook, Mount Hope, Binbrook, and the surrounding area, Councillor Mark Tadeson and the Ward 11 office are working with Hamilton Police and City staff to respond to local safety concerns.

A key part of this work is increasing visible enforcement in areas where residents are reporting speeding, aggressive driving, and unsafe behaviour. The Ward 11 office continues to bring local concerns forward to Hamilton Police so enforcement resources can be directed to problem areas where possible. We have also heard positive feedback from residents who have noticed increased police visibility in the ward, which is encouraging.

Recent local data reinforces the need for continued attention. The April 2026 Ward 11 report shows 43 collisions in the month, compared with a five-year monthly average of 31.2. Motor vehicle collisions were also listed among the top three monthly event types in Ward 11.

Enforcement is one part of the solution. The Ward 11 office is also working with City staff to support road-safety improvements that reflect the needs of a growing community. This includes looking at practical tools such as traffic calming, safer crossings, speed management, signage, intersection improvements, and other measures that can help reduce risk for residents.

The City of Hamilton’s Vision Zero approach is based on the principle that serious injuries and fatalities on our roads are preventable. The program focuses on safer streets through education, enforcement, engineering, evaluation, and engagement. For Ward 11, that means combining resident feedback, local data, police coordination, and City road-safety planning.

Residents also have an important role to play by following the rules of the road and reporting unsafe driving or road-safety issues when they occur. When you make a report, please include our office as well so we can continue to track local concerns and advocate for safer roads across Ward 11.

As Ward 11 continues to grow, road safety will remain a focus for Councillor Tadeson and the Ward 11 office. Residents are encouraged to report ongoing concerns about speeding, unsafe driving, intersections, crossings, or other road-safety issues so they can be reviewed and directed to the appropriate City or police process.
