Hamilton Police Service's 2025 data for Ward 11 shows both progress and ongoing challenges in community safety.

Violent Crime

Ward 11 recorded 129 violent crime incidents in 2025, slightly above the five-year average of 123.6 but consistent with recent trends. Notably, the ward recorded zero shootings in 2025, down from sporadic incidents in previous years.

Assault incidents totaled 65, sexual violations 13, and robberies 6. These numbers reflect relatively stable violent crime rates compared to historical averages.

Property Crime

Property crime remains the more significant challenge. Ward 11 recorded 452 property crime incidents in 2025, above the five-year average of 398.4.

Auto theft accounted for 92 incidents—a concern residents consistently raise. Theft from vehicles added another 74 incidents. Break-and-enters totaled 31.

Traffic and Collisions

Collisions increased to 462 in 2025, substantially above the five-year average of 345.2. The majority (44 in December alone) were non-injury collisions, but the upward trend reflects increased traffic volumes and speed-related concerns.

Calls for Service

Police received 2,037 calls for service in Ward 11 during 2025, below the five-year average of 2,138.6. The most common call types were motor vehicle collisions, suspicious activity reports, and requests for assistance from other emergency services.

Mark's Response

Mark maintains regular contact with Hamilton Police Service crime managers—weekly, sometimes daily—to advocate for increased visibility and Ward 11-specific support. While crime prevention requires sustained, collaborative effort across the community, Mark continues pushing for resources that address resident concerns about property crime and traffic safety.
