Things to do in Winona this Summer !!!

If you are looking for something to do locally this summer you may want to consider any of the following great places.

Supie Camp Councillor Program is running Monday – Friday mornings and afternoons at Winona Park, for more details see the web calendar.

Splash pad at Winona Park is a huge hit especially in the hot weather.  Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the day.  There is also playground equipment and pathways through the treed areas.  You can also check out the recently paved parking lot.

The Library at 777 Hwy #8 @ Jones Road is always popular.  The indoor air conditioning allows you to browse books and many other items; you can even borrow movies to take home with you.

Fifty Point Conservation area is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon or day.  They have fishing in their stocked pond and there is also a beach area for swimming. It’s a great place for a picnic or just to get away from veranda beach or porta backyarda.

Don’t forget your local Pick Your Own Farms and Fruit Stands.  They mostly along Hwy #8 and they offer you a nice outdoor opportunity to hand select your items fresh from the farm.

If you feel like a nice walk or hike, this about the Bruce Trail which goes through the Escarpment in the Winona Area.   Or the Dofasco Trail which is in Rural Upper Stoney Creek between Green Mountain and Ridge Road’s.

Try visiting your local neighbourhood park and just relaxing in the shade or watch the kids play and you can also meet your local neighbours.

You can always visit the Erland Lee (Museum) Home, 552 Ridge Rd, which is open Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12noon – 4pm.  On July 20th the home is having an Activity Day Event (please see calendar on the web page for details).   If you are looking to book an outdoor picnic or event, the Erland Lee is now booking.

Also close by is Wild Water Works, you can get discounted tickets at your local Stoney Creek Municipal Service Centre, 777 Hwy #8 @ Jones Rd and that will save you a few dollars each and parking is free with ticket purchase.

And last but not least, the Winona Peach Festival will be held on August 23, 24 and 25.  This is the Big Event for Winona and you won’t want to miss out.   Check the Festival’s web page for all the details.
