Splash Pads, Pools & Patios Opening this Weekend

With the province’s recent announcement allowing Hamilton to enter Stage 2 of its phased reopening, staff have been preparing to safely reopen the city’s spray pads and pools. 65 of the City’s 68 spray pads will be turned on by this Friday, June 19. Community members can find their nearest spray pad by visiting www.hamilton.ca/parks-recreation/recreation/spray-pads

The following indoor and outdoor pools will open the week of Monday, July 6: • Ancaster Lions Outdoor • Coronation Outdoor Pool • Dundas Driving Park • H.G. Brewster Pool • Huntington Park Recreation Centre • Jimmy Thompson Pool • Ryerson Recreation Centre • Sir Winston Churchill Recreation Centre • Stoney Creek Recreation Centre • Westmount Recreation Centre

The following outdoor pools will open the week of Monday, July 13: • Birge Outdoor Pool • Green Acres Outdoor Pool • Inch Park Outdoor Pool • Walker Outdoor Pool

COVID-19 precautions remain in place while using spray pads and pools. These include keeping two metres of physical distance between yourself and others who aren’t in your “social circle”, not gathering in large crowds or groups, washing your hands and not using pools and spray pads if you are sick or showing signs of being sick.

Hamilton’s bars and restaurants can now open for dining in outdoor areas only, such as patios, curbside, parking lots and adjacent premises. They must take appropriate measures to ensure physical distancing of at least two metres between patrons from different households, including using reservations, limiting the number of patrons allowed in the outdoor space at one time, and ensuring enough space between tables, including to allow for movement. Access to indoor facilities will be limited to patio/outdoor dining area access, food pickup, payment, washrooms or other health and safety purposes. Learn more on the reopening of bars and restaurants by visiting www.hamilton.ca/reopens.

Thank you, Hamilton, for your patience as we work to ensure our city’s reopening is safe for everyone and for your steadfast efforts in slowing the advance of the virus in our community.
