REMINDER: Truck Violation Reporting Tool Now Available for Hamilton Residents

The City of Hamilton and Hamilton Police Service have launched a new Truck Violation Reporting Tool to help residents report suspected truck route violations in their neighbourhoods.

This tool gives residents a more direct way to share location-specific information when they see trucks travelling where they may not be permitted. Reports can help the City and Hamilton Police Service monitor concerns, identify patterns, and better understand where follow-up, monitoring, or enforcement may be needed. The City’s Truck Route Network is intended to help keep trucks on suitable roadways while recognizing impacts such as safety, congestion, noise, air quality, and road infrastructure concerns.

Residents can report a truck route violation in two ways:

• Call the Hamilton Police Service non-emergency line at 905-546-4925

I know it can be frustrating when residents take the time to report truck activity and it feels like nothing is happening right away. But these reports do matter. Each submission helps create a clearer picture of when and where concerns are happening. Over time, that information can support better decisions about enforcement scheduling, traffic monitoring, and other possible traffic management steps.

It is also important to note that enforcement of truck route restrictions falls under the jurisdiction of the Hamilton Police Service. The City’s truck route system includes permissive and restrictive signage, and trucks may temporarily leave a truck route when they need to reach a destination using the most direct path from the truck route.

For Ward 11 residents in Glanbrook, Mount Hope, Binbrook, and surrounding communities, continued reporting is one way to make sure local concerns are documented. If you see a truck route violation, please submit the report with as much location-specific detail as possible.
