Public Consultation – Firearms Discharge By-law Update

marktadeson

The City of Hamilton is conducting a comprehensive review of the Discharge of Firearms By-Law. Attend the upcoming public meeting on February 13 to provide your comments to City Staff on the proposed by-law changes.

Date: February 13, 2017 Time: 6 to 8:30pm. Presentation begins at 6:30pm Location: Glanbrook Municipal Service Centre, 4280 Binbrook Road

Why is the City reviewing the by-law?

1. To update the map(s) where the discharge of firearms is prohibited to incorporate recent and future urban development for consultation with the affected land owners and stakeholders. Review the Proposed Boundary Expansion Map

2. To provide clear interpretation and understanding of the by-law’s provisions; reinforce federal/provincial firearm regulations; maintain public safety; and acknowledge/recognize the different aspects of bows vs common firearms to balance the varied needs of the community.
