Council approves Tadeson motion to expand Binbrook commercial opportunity (CIPA zone)

Council approves expansion of the Binbrook Commercial District Community Improvement Project Area (CIPA) On July 15, 2026, Council approved Councillor Mark Tadeson’s motion to expand the Binbrook Commercial District Community Improvement Project Area north along Regional Road 56.
The approved change brings additional commercial properties into the project area. Property owners, tenants and developers within the expanded boundary may be eligible to apply for programs under Hamilton’s city-wide Community Improvement Plan.
Depending on the program, support may be available for:
commercial building rehabilitation and façade improvements;
accessibility and environmental improvements;
improvements to vacant commercial spaces;
new or improved residential units;
public-art murals; and
redevelopment projects that increase the municipal tax base.
The expansion is intended to create a more consistent approach to commercial development along Regional Road 56, encourage local investment and support additional services and amenities for Binbrook residents.
The Community Improvement Plan programs have their own eligibility requirements and application processes. Inclusion in the project area does not automatically qualify a property or business for funding. Applicants should review the relevant program requirements before beginning work or incurring costs.
