Mayor Eisenberger lowers flags across the city to half-mast in support of Indigenous communities 

The City of Hamilton will lower flags at all city sites to half-mast in memory of the Indigenous children whose remains have been found in unmarked mass graves. All flags will be lowered by Monday June 28th and will remain lowered indefinitely. The horrific discovery of unmarked graves at Marieval Indian Residential School and Kamloops Residential School are reminders of the shameful legacy of residential schools and the resulting trauma.

The Hamilton Sign will also be lit orange on July 1st, 2021, to pay respect to Indigenous children, families and survivors of the residential school system.
