The Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (LINC) in Hamilton will be closed for maintenance work and will affect both eastbound and westbound directions:
Eastbound: Friday, May 24 at 8 am until Monday, May 27 at 4 am.
Westbound: Friday, May 24 at 10 am until Monday, May 27 at 4 am.
The eastbound closure will be in effect from Golf Links Road to the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway off-ramp, leaving the eastbound LINC. The westbound closure will be in effect from the Red Hill Valley Parkway to Mohawk Road. Detour routes will be via Mohawk Road and Stone Church Road.
The maintenance work will include:
Spot resurfacing and asphalt repairs
Sections of mill and pave
Graffiti removal
Bridge and signage repairs
Pavement markings
Ditching
Catch basin cleaning
Vegetation maintenance
During the closure, field crews will be on-site to monitor traffic flow and adjust signal timings as needed. Staff have prepared timing plans for the closure, which include signals resting in green when no vehicles are present on closed ramps, such as at the intersection of Linc @ Mohawk Road.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to remain patient during the closure period, as the primary focus is on ensuring worker safety, maximizing work efficiency, and minimizing overall traffic disruptions. By condensing the necessary maintenance work into one weekend, the city aims to reduce the overall impact on commuters.
In addition to the LINC closure, please note that a hydro power outage occurred earlier today, which may have affected the operations of several intersections, including Stonechurch @ Golflinks Rd, Stonechurch at Upper Paradise Rd, and Stonechurch & Garth Street. The issue has been resolved, as staff worked with Hydro to restore power.
Thanks for your patience, and if you are like us here in the Ward 11 office, are very glad the LINC is open every other 362 days this year!
