This week, Councillor Mark Tadeson attended the 111th Armenian Genocide Commemoration, where he had the honour of speaking in his role as Deputy Mayor.
The event brought together members of the Armenian community and residents from across Hamilton to remember and honour the victims of the Armenian Genocide. It also served as an important opportunity to reflect on the ongoing significance of remembrance, education, and the pursuit of justice.
In their remarks following the event, organizers expressed appreciation for the City’s participation and noted that commemorations like this go beyond what can be learned in textbooks - offering a deeper understanding shaped by lived experience, community, and shared memory.
Councillor Tadeson was grateful for the opportunity to stand in solidarity with the Armenian community and to recognize a history that must never be forgotten.
Events like this continue to play an important role in fostering awareness, understanding, and respect across our community.
