Hamilton Taxpayers: Pre-Authorized Payments Resuming Soon with Adjusted Dates!

Attention Hamilton taxpayers:

Your pre-authorized tax payments will soon resume with revised dates!

Due to the cybersecurity incident, the City temporarily paused pre-authorized tax payment withdrawals to protect your financial data and ensure billing accuracy. With the hard work of staff, newly revised withdrawal dates are now available. Letters will also be sent to the approximately 68,000 residents who are affected by this change and you should start hearing about these new withdrawal dates on social media, newspapers and electronic newsletters very soon.

To help you plan ahead, we've prepared a list of the adjusted payment dates.

Most taxpayers will see pre-authorized payments restarting on April 15, with a few starting on April 30. Regular schedules are set to return in June.

Read on to find your newly revised PAP withdrawal dates!

Revised Schedules for the Five Payment Plan Types:

• If you are enrolled in a 10-month (Feb-Nov) or 12-month (Jan-Dec) pre-authorized payment plan (your PAPs are withdrawn on the first day of the month):

• March 1 deferred withdrawal will now be withdrawn on April 15

• April 1 deferred withdrawal will now be withdrawn on May 1

• May 1 withdrawal will now be withdrawn on May 15

• June 1 and subsequent withdrawals will proceed as originally scheduled

• If you are on the 12-month plan (your PAPs are withdrawn on 15th day of the month):

• March 15 deferred withdrawal will now be withdrawn on April 15

• April 15 withdrawal will now be withdrawn on May 1

• May 15 and subsequent withdrawals will proceed as originally scheduled.

• If you are on the Arrears plan (your PAPs are withdrawn on the last business day of the month):

• February 29 deferred withdrawal will now be withdrawn on April 15

• March 28 deferred withdrawal will now be withdrawn on May 1

• April 30 withdrawal will now be withdrawn on May 15

• May 31 and subsequent withdrawals will proceed as originally scheduled.

• If you are on the Instalment plan (your PAPs are withdrawn on the instalment due dates):

• February 29 deferred withdrawal will now be withdrawn on April 30

• April 30 withdrawal will now be withdrawn on May 31 

• The remaining withdrawals will be identified on your 2024 Final Tax bill.
