Residents of Villages of Glancaster provided us with not only 1 but 3 Pandemic Heroes!!! Here they are…

Chuck and Mary Beth Beasley

Chuck has faithfully shopped for our groceries for almost a year. We are very grateful to him, nothing was ever too much trouble. Chuck and MaryBeth also suggested We do a monthly soup exchange through the winter, we experienced numerous soups and exchanged many funny stories. We are so blessed to be in the VOG community, this is a community like no other Sincerely Joanne Thompson

Ken Magill

Ken lives in the Villages of Glancaster (VOG) community, and is a big supporter of the Neighbour to Neighbour food bank, and Mission Services. He regularly posts notes/reminders on the VOG Facebook page, and in our central mail kiosk about the the need for food for those less fortunate. He actively collects food and cash/cheque donations from VOG residents, and delivers them to Neighbour to Neighbour every week, all year. Last year Ken held a raffle, raffling off donated prizes to raise over $12,000. for Neighbour to Neighbour and Mission Services. Ken has also raised funds through the Ride For Refuge since 2014. He has raised over $35,000 since 2014 for Mission Services cycling for Ride For Refuge. I believe Ken’s consistent and ongoing efforts to support the food bank and other charities, and thereby supporting the basic needs of people in the community, deserves some community recognition. By the way, Ken is over 77 years old, is a navy veteran, and a retired firefighter. My name is Peter Noel, and I am delighted to make this nomination.

Reg McRae

I would like to submit the name of someone who has gone out of their way to help me during the Pandemic. My very kind neighbour Reg McRae I am 88 and living alone. He has come to my aid with furnace and toilet problems and done several repairs for me. He also just ran a Food Drive at his church. A very worthy nominee. Regards, Betty
