Did you know you can have large household items picked up from your curb-for free-by the City of Hamilton’s Waste Management Division? This convenient service helps prevent illegal dumping, especially in rural areas, and keeps our community looking its best.
Who can use this service?
Any residential property in Hamilton with curbside waste collection (single-family homes with up to 5 units).
How does it work?
Call 905-546-2489 (CITY) at least one week before your regular collection day to book a pickup.
You can schedule up to four large items per booking.
Place your items at the curb by 7am on your scheduled collection day.
What can you put out?
Furniture (up to 200 lbs each)
Mattresses and box springs (must be wrapped and sealed in plastic)
Carpeting (rolled and tied, max 4 ft)
Bed frames, hot tubs (cut down), mirrors (sealed), toilets (tank removed), and more
Important tips:
Each item must be under 90 kg (200 lbs) and no longer than 1.2 m (4 ft)
Mattresses and box springs must be wrapped in plastic-unwrapped items will not be collected
Notify the City if your items have bed bugs or biohazardous materials
