Councillor Johnson is putting out the challenge to her Ward 11 residents and community groups to help clean up a park or community area within Ward 11. Everyone knows a park or area that could use a little clean up and what better time than April. Let’s pickup that litter and debris and get a nice spring fresh start. If we all pitch in, we can accomplish a lot in a short period of time. Councillor Johnson will provide the bags and gloves for the clean up and we’ll also make arrangements to have the debris taken away after your done. We can also assist with advertising on this web page and in the Gazette to help get the word out.
We have confirmed the following Clean Up’s so far…..
The Kennish Family, owners of the Elfrida and Binbrook Tim Horton’s have booked Sunday April 15th as their day for a clean up in the Binbrook Village. This is a annual event sponsored by the local Binbrook Tim Horton’s.
The Winona Cubs & Scouts will host a Clean Up for Winona Park, Barton Street between Winona & Fifty Rd’s on Saturday April 21st, starting at 9:30 and expected to run until 11am.
Last year some local neighbours got together and did a street cleanup, picking up debris from the shoulder and road ditches. Everything helps no matter how small the project.
If you have an area that you think needs some cleanup or if you have a group that is interested in helping in a cleanup, just let us know. Also, if you are a student and want to gain some volunteer hours, this is a perfect opportunity for you and you are doing something great for the Community and the Environment.
