Hamilton City Council will be appointing members of the public to fill vacancies on various Advisory Committees, each of which has a specific mandate that assists Council in a unique manner. Membership appointments are to coincide with the 2014-2018 term of Council. Most Advisory Committees meet monthly with additional work required between meetings. This is an opportunity to meet new and interesting people, develop your skills and share your talents.

Advisory Committee for Immigrants and Refugees – Up to 20 Members
Arts Advisory Commission – Up to 8 Members
Committee Against Racism – Up to 15 Members
Food Advisory Committee – Up to 18 Members
Keep Hamilton Clean & Green Committee – Up to 9 Members
Hamilton Aboriginal Advisory Committee – Up to 14 Members
Hamilton Cycling Committee – Up to 15 Members
Hamilton Mundialization Committee – Up to 9 Members
Hamilton Status of Women Committee – Up to 15 Members
Hamilton Veterans Committee – Up to 9 Members
Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee – Up to 15 Members
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Advisory Committee – No Maximum
Seniors’ Advisory Committee – Up to 9 Members

An Orientation Open House will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 4:30p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Hamilton City Hall, 2nd Floor Foyer. The purpose of the Orientation Open House is to outline the scope of the various Advisory Committees, explain the time commitment and any qualifications that may be required. Although attendance at the orientation is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged. Applications may be completed and submitted at the Orientation Open House.
The deadline for submission of all applications is Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. to the Office of the City Clerk or any of the Municipal Service Centres. City Council wishes to ensure that its Advisory Committees reflect the diverse nature of the City of Hamilton’s population including women, persons with disabilities, native persons, and racial and ethnic minorities and encourages all residents to consider these opportunities.
