About
Brenda Johnson has lived in Ward 11 for over 40 years and is well known throughout the community as a strong leader with a good sense for planning issues. Before being elected Councillor in 2010, Brenda was very successful lobbying for our neighbourhoods including the Winona community where she represented Winona residents during an OMB/ERT consolidated hearing to defeat a development proposed on a flood plain within the Niagara Escarpment Plan (also known as the “Winona Blob Hearing).”
Working as a Project Manager at Environment Hamilton enabled Brenda to assist residents in Dundas, Glanbrook, Winona, Stoney Creek and North Hamilton to navigate through the political process to ensure the residents’ voices were heard by decision-makers.
An active volunteer, Brenda can be found at the Winona Peach Festival on the grounds crew where she supervises all the young men and women who keep the Park clean. In 2010 she worked diligently with the HSR and the Peach Festival organizers to ensure free HSR bus service for the public starting at Eastgate Square to the Winona Peach Festival throughout the weekend. This helped build attendance at the already wildly popular festival. Brenda has also been involved with 1st Winona scouting for 18 years and has received awards of commendation for her excellent service.
Brenda’s greatest strength is listening to what the residents need and helping them to achieve a solution. She is diligent; never accepting “no” as an answer.
Happily married for almost 30 years, Brenda has two grown sons.
As your Councillor for Ward 11, Brenda Johnson sits on the following committees of Council for the 2010 to 2014 term of office.
