Apr 22nd, Foothills of Winona “Proposed Development” Neighbourhood Meeting

RE: Foothills of Winona, Proposed Development corner of Barton and Fifty Road, Winona

As you are aware, the developer for the above proposed development has appealed this application to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB).

In doing so, the approvals for this development have been taken out of the City’s hands. The City is no longer the decision maker on this matter as that role has been transferred to the OMB. The OMB will be requested to make a decision on the developer’s applications to implement the above proposed development. The OMB Hearing for this application had been set for Monday, April 15, 2013, but, save for a brief discussion with the Board on Monday morning; the hearing will now be postponed until Thursday, April 18, 2013.

There were certain technical studies and information which the City had requested from the developer before it could review the merits of the development proposal. This documentation was finally provided to the City and a report was prepared by staff to be considered at the first possible Council meeting.

On April 10, 2013 City Council gave staff the direction to support the development proposal but subject to a number of conditions.

In an effort to represent you and keep you informed, I am hosting a Neighbourhood Meeting to inform you of what conditions the City will be asking for at this hearing. This meeting will be held on Monday April 22nd, 2013, starting at 7pm, at the Stoney Creek Municipal Building; Council Chambers, 777 Hwy #8 (corner of Hwy #8 & Jones Rd). I have asked staff from both legal and planning departments from the City of Hamilton to be in attendance and to answer your questions.

Since this application is now at the OMB, the developer will not be invited.

If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
