We’ve received approximately 10cm of localized snow and ice so far, with 1-2mm of freezing drizzle expected to continue on and off today.

– The City is continuing to respond to our escarpments and Class 1 and 2 Roads and cycling lanes with conditions being monitored.
– The Keddy Access Trail received a material application and is now open.
– Transit stop and sidewalk clearing began at 5:30 a.m.

Facility Closures & Program Impacts
– All Hamilton Public Libraries are Closed today.
– With Hamilton school boards closed today, any recreation programming scheduled at school locations will be cancelled tonight.
– All City of Hamilton facilities including Municipal Service Centres, Hamilton Civic Museums, Community Recycling Centres, Provincial Offences Administration Office, Red Hill Family Centre and Recreation Centres will open today, and any delays in opening will be shared via the City’s web alert.

Senior Centres
– Facilities are open, however, the following senior centres have cancelled drop-in programming for today:
o Sackville Hill
o Flamborough
o Ancaster Senior Achievement Centre

– Public Health Services Theraplay Group located at St. David’s OEYC at 33 Cromwell Crescent scheduled from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. is cancelled due to weather conditions. It will resume on schedule next Thursday, March 2.

– Parks staff will continue to work on clearing winter-maintained park paths this morning and throughout the day.
– The City is aware of a Flood Watch issued by the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) who is advising of strong shore-bound winds forecasted for today.
– Staff are monitoring areas of the Hamilton shoreline, including the waterfront trail for localized flooding due to the storm surge and wave action caused by high winds.
– If required, closures of the waterfront trail will be shared via the City’s twitter channel (@cityofhamilton)

Waste Collection
– Crews will be out on their scheduled routes this morning. Due to road conditions it will be a little slower going and residents can expect some delays.

Community Recycling Centres
– Community Recycling Centres will open on schedule at 8 a.m. today.

– HSR is operating regularly scheduled service. Customers should leave extra time to travel and expect delays on route due to ongoing inclement weather.

Accessible Transportation Services
– ATS services provided by DARTS is running; however, delays are expected in response to weather conditions. If customers don’t intend to travel, they are asked to call DARTS to cancel their scheduled trip: 905-529-1717.

In response to the cold weather and inclement weather events, the City is ensuring for greater and more reliable access to warm places for our community’s vulnerable homeless population during the winter season. Ongoing programs and resources in the community including emergency shelters, and drop-in locations are available for those seeking relief from the forecasted inclement weather.

    Drop-in programs & regular operating hours include:

• The Hub (78 Vine Street) – drop-in 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and overnight drop-in hours 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. (until March 31) daily
• Hamilton Regional Indian Centre (407 King Street W) – Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• YWCA Carole Anne’s Place (75 MacNab Street) – overnight drop in 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily for women and non-binary individuals
• Mission Services Willow’s Place (196 Wentworth Street N) – drop-in from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily for women
• Wesley Day Centre (52 Catharine Street N) – Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (until March 31)
• Living Rock Youth Resources – daily drop-in 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for youth.
