After a long wait, Councillor Johnson is pleased to announce that the City now owns the former Winona Public School on Winona Rd at Hwy #8.  “It’s taken a long time to get here, but we have done it.”  The City took possession of the building just before Christmas and are currently in the process of doing structural testing in order to determine what needs to be done to safely have the building ready to open.

There are a number of groups and organizations that are very interested in using the building once it’s open.   Given the number of residents who have supported a community centre in the Winona area, and the many comments made about programs needed in the area, it’s time to meet.

Staff will be on hand to give an overview of what they see being possible programs for this location and they’d like your feedback.  They would also like your thoughts in terms of new initiatives and are very open minded here and looking forward to hearing from residents.
